Attorneys Recognized on the 2017-2018 Pro Bono Honor Roll standard

Many people are not equipped to represent themselves in our increasingly complex society, making legal representation a necessity.  To address this need, the Iowa Judicial Branch encourages all Iowa attorneys to devote at lease 50 hours of pro bono legal services each year.  Pro bono legal services are not only vital for the people represented, but are also vital to society as a whole as the service fulfills the promise of equal access to justice. Kaitlin grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Iowa. During her undergraduate studies, she worked for Student Disability Services where she oversaw scheduling and administration of students’ exams and resolved conflicts related to exams and student accommodations. Firm Sponsors Battle of the Badges Hockey Event standard

Richard Moeller Appointed to Iowa Supreme Court Grievance Commission standard

Richard Moeller, partner at Moore, Heffernan, Moeller, Johnson & Meis law firm, has been appointed by the Iowa Supreme Court to serve a three-year term on the Court’s Grievance Commission. Along with the Attorney Disciplinary Board, the Commission was established by the Supreme Court to supervise lawyers, to address complaints about alleged unethical conduct by lawyers, and to promote public confidence in the legal system. Partner Richard Moeller Tries Case to the Vaccine Court standard

Richard Moeller of Moore, Heffernan, Moeller, Johnson & Meis, L.L.P. recently returned from Washington D.C. where he represented a petitioner at an entitlement hearing before the Office of Special Masters in the Court of Federal Claims, often referred to as the Vaccine Court. The hearing took place on January 28 and 29, 2016, and involved a claim by the firm’s client to the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (NVICP).  A decision on the case is expected in the next several months. The NCIVP administers a program of the federal government which awards money to persons who suffer side-effects from certain vaccines. Thirteen years ago a group of women who were members of the Junior League of Sioux City decided to rally community support to open a children’s museum in Sioux City.  After years of hard work and dedication, their vision has paid off as the LaunchPAD Children’s Museum has opened its doors in downtown Sioux City.  The PAD in LaunchPAD stands for Play And Discover, as the exhibits are designed to encourage children to interact with them.  There is a cow to “milk,” a large, vertical maze that can be climbed, a market with a grocery scanner, and many other activities.  The exhibits are not only fun to play with, but each one teaches kids different lessons in science, engineering, ...
