Moore, Heffernan, Moeller, Johnson & Meis, L.L.P is pleased to announce that Kaitlin Boettcher has joined the firm as an associate attorney.  Kaitlin currently provides general practice for the firm, including Family Law, Employment Law, Estate Planning, and Litigation. Kaitlin grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Iowa. During her undergraduate studies, she worked for Student Disability Services where she oversaw scheduling and administration of students’ exams and resolved conflicts related to exams and student accommodations. She interned for Chatham Oaks, Inc., a residential care facility for individuals with chronic mental illness, where she worked directly with clients and collaborated with an interdisciplinary team of professionals. Firm Sponsors Battle of the Badges Hockey Event standard

Firm Scholarship Awarded to Briar Cliff University Student standard

Attorneys from Moore, Heffernan, Moeller, Johnson & Meis attended the annual Briar Cliff University Scholarship Luncheon on October 5, 2016. The lunch provided the opportunity for the firm to meet with its scholarship recipient, Ashley Van Cleave. Ashley is a senior from Mapleton, Iowa who plans to graduate this May with a major in Biochemistry. Social Media in the Healthcare Workplace standard

On January 28, 2016, Partner Maureen B. Heffernan spoke to the Woodbury Medical Society on the topic of Social Media- Identifying Issues for Physician Practices.  Physicians, both as employers and as health care providers, need to be aware of the importance of social media policies for their employees.  Those policies need to comply with current legal standards both in the employment law arena and in the context of patient privacy laws. Thirteen years ago a group of women who were members of the Junior League of Sioux City decided to rally community support to open a children’s museum in Sioux City.  After years of hard work and dedication, their vision has paid off as the LaunchPAD Children’s Museum has opened its doors in downtown Sioux City.  The PAD in LaunchPAD stands for Play And Discover, as the exhibits are designed to encourage children to interact with them.  There is a cow to “milk,” a large, vertical maze that can be climbed, a market with a grocery scanner, and many other activities.  The exhibits are not only fun to play with, but each one teaches kids different lessons in science, engineering, art ...
